We’re now back from the Georgian splendour of Kedleston Hall in Derbyshire, venue for BBC Radio 3’s very special In Tune to launch the 18th century season across the network: Eighteenth Century Britain: Majesty, Music and Mischief. Presenter Suzy Klein also guided us through a vivid picture of family life for the family living here in the 18th century, and fiddlesinger Nancy Kerr presented traditional tunes from this period including the haunting ‘Barbara Allen’ and everybody’s favourite nursery tune ‘Dance to your daddy’ in an 18th century mash-up. East-Midlands based Musica Donum Dei, and our very own Catherine Martin, also performed numbers from music books found in Kedleston Hall’s extensive library.
